Tofino was beautiful! I'm ashamed to say, but I have lived on the island for most of my life and have only been once, when I was really young. To young to appreciate it for all that it is, the vibe, the beaches and the sunsets. Just stunning!

So I'm sooo happy that Tanaksa & Nick asked me to photograph their wedding. It was very low key, and beautiful. Being married on the sand, in front of the Long Beach Lodge, Tanaska walked with a huge smile to her awaiting husband-to-be and a handful of guests. It was a very sweet wedding, and I couldn't be happier for the couple!

Nina & Jeremie ~ wedding

What a fabulous wedding! With hints of candy apple red, Nina & Jeremie (Mr & Mrs Laid Back) had the perfect wedding, their way.

The couple opted to do things very low key, getting ready together at the stunning Fairholme Manor in Fairfield. Nina made some amazing decisions with her wedding attire including a Louis Vuitton Vernis handbag and matching patent Jimmy Choo's in a vibrant red! Oh who needs flowers when you have perfect accessories!

After portraits were wrapped up, the couple headed to Cafe Brio to greet their guests for a pre-ceremony cocktail hour. It was a wonderful affair and I'm so very happy for the couple who really enjoyed everything!

Best wishes to Nina & Jeremie! Hope you are enjoying your time in the desert!

Marita & Markus ~ engagement

Marita and I met in middle school, and were friends for many of our early years....we even had our "sweet 16" birthday together! Years have past since those days, and I one day got an email from her asking me to meet her to discuss wedding photography, I was shocked, excited, and couldn't wait to meet the man she was going to marry! ... Lets just say they are perfect together!

So along with their beagle (maybe cross) Tyson, we all spent a good portion of Friday morning taking pictures and catching up.
I noted their giggles together, maybe a few inside jokes, and their mutual fascination with snakes..... yup, their that good together. :)

I'm very much looking forward to Marita & Markus's day, and very happy for an old friend finding a true love.

Kelsey & Dean ~ wedding

If the start of 2009 is any indication of my year ahead, I'm so excited. I really feel that I have the best clients, and when you have a great relationship with them, you feel so comfortable working with them, that everything fits.

Kelsey & Dean were married this past Saturday, and had a beautiful spring day wedding at the Inn at Laurel Point. Their wedding was beautiful, romantic, and full of surprises all day. While putting together my blog entry I had a hard time choosing my favorite images, as these two + their amazing wedding party were so fun to work with, I have too many favorite moments.

So congrats to the couple. I loved working with everyone. You are both soo blessed with two wonderful families & the friends you shared your day with. You are a perfect couple. xoxox

After waiting many weeks for these cherry blossoms to arrive, June wedding couple Teresa & Kevin were a blast to work with.

With help from pampered little pup Oliver, who reminds me very much of my dog, we concurred a shoot at the Rail yards area. Believe it or not, this was my first engagement session shot there. I had fun, was inspired and could have spent another hour in the location.

During what seems to be the first week of spring (and cherry blossom season), here in Victoria... Mike & Kate had a beautiful wedding surrounded the ones they love.

When I first met Kate & Mike, she pulled out this huge three ring binder, common to most brides these days, and we chatted about well, weddings. Perhaps a little overwhelmed, but excited to plan the event, I shared with her stories about how even though we can plan, plan & plan some more, every wedding day has it's own unique "ruffle" that makes it their own and something to look back and remember as a part of the great day.... Then Mike and I proceeded to chat about camera stuff {for about a good half hour}, and I knew I found a great team to work with!

I'm happy to say that the union of Team Kate & Team Mike was well worth the planning, the decision making and those few "ruffles" that concluded to such a wonderful day. Officially now known as Team Sugimoto, you will be finding them in Hawaii, being comfortable, relaxed and reflecting on what was a perfect day to call all their own!

2009 Bookings Update!

I have been busy with Bella Boudoir this month that I have not been posting on my own blog! Shame, Shame!!!

I just wanted to give everyone a update on Wedding Bookings for 2009, and some other info.

~ I have 3 Saturdays left for prime summer wedding dates. They are July 18th, & September 5th, 12th!

~ Of all the dates still available, I have I will only be taking 2 more weddings! 2 more for the year!! So for anyone who is interested in my services for your date, please email me soon.

~ Yes, I am taking bookings for 2010. If you are getting married in 2010 I suggest you consider booking 12 months in advance, or 15 months for popular July - August dates.

~ For Portrait sessions, including corporate projects and headshots, I will be limiting the amount this year during the months of May - September, please book your ideal date before I book up.

I am so grateful to all my clients for 2009 and 2010 (now too) and look forward to yet another busy year!

Rebecca & Brendan ~ wedding

On Sunday, when most of Victoria was hiding indoors from a very rare snowstorm, a very lucky couple, Rebecca & Brendan, tied the knot.

The whole weekend I was excited, anxious, and a little nervous to see what the weather was going to do Sunday, and even thought I had "wished" for a sunny day, because it was the Winter Solstice, I was pleased to have a stunning snowy day.... and I knew this would be the couple I could pull it off with!

The Mr & Mrs were so amazing, and just wowed me while we were out in a very (shall we say) brisk day. They marched down a hill and sipped Champagne, while there guests watched in awe from the club house windows. I was double lucky to that day, and had 3 of the best groomsmen + 1 groom, who did snow angels for me, even after "accidentally" hitting one with a return snow ball. (I'm a good shot hey Jason?)

Thank you to the B & R, for making my last wedding of the year, a fun & memorable day!

Today I spent the afternoon with my great friends and their two adorable kids. The family have just moved back to the island, from being up north, and I'm so happy they are now closer.

Undeniably the best time of year to take pictures, I had a great session with a photo-friendly couple, Kelsey & Dean, who are getting married this coming spring. Super-Dog Hunter was too busy to sit still at the beach, but we still were able get a few shots before he took swim and happily returning to the truck with a souvenir stick!

Saturday, I had the best day with Bianca & Jamie!

For those of you whom don't know, last fall I took a (brief) job serving to help support my hubby while going to school... that is where I met Bianca. Instantly we clicked and started chatting all things wedding (how can you not?). One day she came to me and said "I want you to photograph my wedding", and I was SSSOOOO excited! Not only did I know she would be a stunning bride but fun, and hilarious at the same time. Well needless to say I was right, their day was perfect and it was great to see some former & favorite co-workers, as well.

Savor Seattle

This past week, I took my mid-wedding season break, which I do every year as a time to re-generate for the next couple months until my December break. My husband and I originally planned a full week road trip, but due to the fact that we are both workaholics, took a quick 3 day trip to Seattle instead.

Along with the shopping and eating at some fabulous restaurants, we took a very fun food tour threw Pike Place Market (or "the Market", as locals call it) The walking tour was threw Savor Seattle, and I all I can say is it was amazing! Tasting everything from chowder to piroshky's, it was worth the trip itself..... and the extra calories. If you are heading to Seattle make this tour if you can! Here are a few pics....

I'm REALLY behind in all my blogging these days.... it's wedding season.

Last Saturday, I photographed Rob & Ashley's wedding, finally after having booked them over a year ago. Even though their precious pup Daisy was not there, the day was perfect and full of emotion and fun! Best part of the wedding, by far, was the groom singing along to "Man, I feel like a woman" by Shania Twain. Apparently Rob had been a super fan! Rob, did you know my hubby went to high school with her? :)

I'v been really fortunate to photograph some really amazing expecting ladies lately! I'v been so inspired and impressed when a mommy - to - be is feeling alittle sexy, and has alittle fun!

Erica is a great example of that. Yesterday she came to the studio, and while her fiancée stayed with us only for a few shots, he really wanted it to be about her and their babe, due in July.

Surrounded by friends and family, they had a quick ceremony at the SMU chapel, followed by a quick trip to Cattle Point, then off to The Royal Victoria Golf Club, for their reception. Rufus, their little pup even made an appearance, escorting the flower girl down the isle. Very cute!

Now that the pair are happily married, they are on the way to two weeks in the sun and warmth, lucky .... so very lucky!

Emily & Michael, from Fort Saint John, came to Vancouver so they could be married on a beautiful "just almost there" spring day. After saying their i do's at a stunning little church in West Vancouver, we set off to find a set of cherry blossom trees in North Vancouver. It was a must have for the bride. We then headed to Stanley Park, before the couple joined friends and family at the Stanley Park Pavillion. Congrats to Emily & Michael!

My friend, Bethany and her darling hubby Tyler, are expecting their first baby.... in the next week or so! I was thrilled when she asked me to take her pictures, and so happy they came over for the day, from Vancouver, to do so. The day was beautiful.... and so is her baby belly.

I'm a sucker for any cute puppy. But when you meet one year old Rufus, you really just want to give him every treat that is in your pocket, and a quick pat on the head, before you get down to business.

I love it when couples bring their "fur babies" for their portrait session. It really does bring out the best in the subjects, and you can't help but smile yourself. Even though Rufus sat patiently on the side-lines, for most of the session, he really did add that little something extra, to every picture he was in.

Brooke & Gregg flew out from England to visit & introduce their adorable daughter, to family and friends.

I photographed their wedding over a year ago, and had the wonderful opportunity to reconnect, and take portraits of their new addition. Evie was so relaxed and cute during the session, (I think she gets it from her parents) it was hard not to get caught up in all the "baby talk" that was taking place. As well, I'm happy that Grandma was their to make her smile, .... the picture below was that special moment.

Amanda & John - wedding

To start off my 2008 season, I had the pleasure to work with a great couple, Amanda and John. The pair, who attend school in Australia, flew back home over the holidays, giving up a portion of their Australian summer, to have a winter wedding. Like a true, west coast winter, the winds and rain made their appearance. The wedding party, however, didn't let this small weather glitch dampen their sprits, and enjoyed every moment of the shoot.

THANK YOU, to the newly built Sidney Pier Hotel and Spa, for accommodating us, keeping us dry, and allowing us to get the shots we need for the Newlyweds, thank you as well to Jen Steele, who was an excellent shooting partner. Congratulations to Amanda and John!

Engaged couple, Kathryn & Andrew, had a portrait session with me today in preparation for their July wedding. We headed to Island View Beach for the main portrait session, then headed to a local farmers field where the couple dressed up as Harry Potter inspired characters. (see last picture)

Natalie & Shawn were married last Saturday, on a very fall day. Every time the couple looked at each-other their faces immediately lit up, and you could feel (and see) their amazing connection. After hitting the breakwater for a few portraits, we visited a little retro Motel along Dallas Rd., and had fun taking some pictures with the FOG's vintage car, and using the old motel as a backdrop.

Vanessa & Ben ~ Wedding

Saturday, Vanessa & Ben were married at a beautiful ceremony in Burnaby. Despite it being the first fall storm of the season, the couple didn't let the weather effect their enthusiasm for each-other and the new life step they took together. The wedding party, didn't disappoint their friends either, and braved the weather at Jerico Beach, for the portraits. The wedding party were chauffeured in classic cars for the day, which brought just enough colour to the couple's day. Congratulations to Ben & Vanessa.

At 12:00 noon on Saturday, Julie & Graeme, surrounded by their 5 children and friends and family, were married at Hart House, on Deer Lake. The couple who wanted a low key, intimate wedding were truly blessed with nice weather, at the venue they knew was perfect for them. Congratulations to the couple!
The couple's three year old twin girls, were the flower girls for the day.

What a wonderful day it was at Tigh-Na-Mara resort Saturday! Catherine and Norm, from Vancouver, spent the weekend at the resort and had a very intimate wedding of just family and close friends. The low-key wedding that took place just as the sun was setting, was perfect for the pair who then followed the ceremony with a reception that was like a small dinner party.

Congratulations to the couple, and thank you to the talented Jen Steele, who was my shooting partner for the day.
